Handmade thin brick tiles give customers flexible design options and installation ease that standard brick cannot provide. Many customers are surprised to learn that thin brick veneer falls into the category of ceramic tiles and therefore can be installed virtually anywhere, even in some of the most challenging installation locations. Any surface where you normally find ceramic or porcelain tile can be replaced with our thin brick ceramic tile. Whether you’re installing the tile yourself or with the help of a contractor, thin brick veneer makes an excellent option for floor tiles or wall tiles in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Thin brick ceramic tiles are a superior option for floor tiles for a few different reasons. For one, thin brick tiles are highly durable. Their durability rivals all other ceramic tile options, with porcelain being the only exception because of its fine grain composition and exceptional hardness. Some locations where ceramic tile is commonly used and thin brick makes an excellent option for include: bathroom floors, walls and shower stalls, kitchen floors, mud rooms, sun rooms, outdoor patios, sidewalks, driveways and kitchen backsplashes. Once sealed, our Real Thin Brick tiles resist water in the same way that any other sealed tile would. While brick tiles are not 100% scratch resistant, the variegated colors and textures of our tiles conceal wear and tear over time even in highly trafficked areas. This makes Real Thin Brick a great floor tile option. Many DIY-ers prefer ceramic tiles over porcelain because ceramic is easier to cut and install than porcelain is. According to the TCNA (Tile Council of North America), non-porcelain tile is also easier to adhere to the floor than porcelain tile. If you are installing tile yourself, thin brick tile helps save some of the potential headache and hassle of installation. When installing our thin brick tile in areas that will be exposed to moisture, make sure to seal the tiles as well as the grout between tiles with a water proofing sealant. You can seal the brick tile before or after installation, but for surfaces frequently exposed to water we would recommend sealing the tiles before installing them. You can do this by soaking the exposed brick surface in sealant overnight. Metal trays work best for this as plastic trays will erode from the sealant. Once installed, an additional coat over the tiles and grout for extra waterproofing is a good idea. Additionally, using a waterproof epoxy grout vs. a standard grout or mortar will make cleaning your bathroom walls or floors from soap scum and other dirt and grime much easier. A waterproof sealant should be re-applied to your brick surface every 3-5 years for maximized protection of our natural brick tiles.
